Fareed – I just purchased your True Fire Guide to Comping. I have to tell you it is very exciting. I’m not even half way thru it and I can’t wait to try your principles. This is good stuff.Thanks.
I just wanted to thank you for your Jazz Comping Survival Guide and sharing your knowledge with us. It’s nice to find one who teaches as well as they play, especially a world class musician such as yourself.
You’ve helped dismantle the mystique surrounding playing jazz and improvisational music to where I no longer feel intimidated by it. Not only is the fear gone but I can actually enjoy it now. Again, thank you.
I’ve been working through your Jazz Comping Survival Guide for a little while now and I must say I really love it. It has demystified many of the things I hear my favourite players doing and is providing a logical framework that I’m sure will enable me to enrich my own playing a great deal – thanks very much!
I’m so excited that your new Survival Guides have finally come out. Your Comping course has dramatically changed my playing. Specifically, moving lines within dominant chords. Compared to before CSG I feel as if Id been playing guitar with a “catchers mitt” on my left hand. You rock as a teacher!
Just wanted to say thanks for putting out those courses with truefire. I bought them immediately and they are great! Every time I fill out surveys for truefire I always say we need “east-west jazz fusion”, I am happy to see they listened.
Your videos are my absolute favorites! Your teaching style appeals to me in a way that no other videos or books have done. None of the concepts covered are completely new to me but the way in which they are presented removes the haze that has surrounded them for so long. Most importantly, the proof is in the pudding! I’m applying the lessons and seeing results!
Yesterday I purchased your true fire course, Bebop Improvisation Survival Guide. I am, I suppose, a hobbyist musician. I have considerable schooling in music (including an undergraduate degree), but my day gig is as an attorney.
For years, I have wanted to learn to play jazz. I know the theory backwards and forwards; I know my arpeggios and my scales; but I have never been able to put it all together to actually play this music. The approach you advocate in your course has completely changed my way of thinking about how I approach the instrument. After just 40 minutes, I was playing Blue Bossa as if I knew what I was doing!
I don’t want to take up too much of your time by going on too long, so let me simply say: thank you. This course has led to a breakthrough for me.
